Recorder

County Recorder Eileen Holtberg
County Recorder Eileen Holtberg

The Recorder’s office is the custodian of all Morrison County property records from the 1870’s through today’s current records.  These records include deeds, mortgages and other various real estate documents which are recorded or filed as permanent records in this office.  If you were born in Minnesota we can process birth certificate requests from our state-wide vitals system. This system also includes certified copies of death certificates dating back to 1997.  Historical birth, death and marriage records dating back to 1870 are located in our office.  The applications and issuance of marriage certificates is a function of our office.  Military discharges, notary commissions, ministerial registrations, State and Federal tax liens for Morrison County are filed and the records maintained in our office.  In addition we are a passport acceptance facility that takes passport photos on site. Our office is committed to recording, protecting, and preserving documents relating to Real Estate and Vital Statistics.

*Notice :  US Passport and Minnesota Birth and Death Certificate Services

In an effort to strengthen the security and integrity of the passport issuance process, the US Dept of State and National Passport Services have implemented a policy for all dual function offices, effective May 1, 2011.  Under this policy, the Recorder’s office cannot overlap duties between the Passport Acceptance Program and issuance of birth/death certificates.  The federal agencies see a conflict between the two services.

If you need to apply for a birth/death certificate, you may continue to visit the Recorder’s Office any time Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.  If you need to apply for a passport, applications are accepted Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.  There should not be a problem obtaining these services, but because of vacation and/or sick days and the separation of duty policy, it may benefit you to call ahead to assure availability of staff to process your request.  (320-632-0146)

It is our continued commitment to provide the public with the best service possible in obtaining their birth/death certificates and passports in an efficient and timely manner.
