|Public Health staff provide information to local residents at a disaster drill.|
Working at the local, regional, and state level, Public Health is developing a strong system for responding to a wide range of potential disasters, including bioterrorism, as well as natural events such as disease outbreaks, floods, and tornadoes.
Health Alert Network (HAN)
This state-level system detects unusual disease patterns or health threats and sends out alerts to local public health agencies. Public Health sends the message on to health care providers, hospitals, clinics, and others in the network.
Emergency Medical Services
Public Health serves as a coordinating agency for First Response Teams and other medical providers.
