History of the Chaplain Program

On October 1, 2003, the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office saw the need for a Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Program in Morrison County. Chaplain Gregg Valentine was hired with the news that he would have to raise his own support. Chaplain Valentine responds to all critical incidents as part of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). Chaplain Valentine’s duties include death notifications, crisis counseling, and trained negotiations for suicidal and barricaded suspects, including help for EMS, Deputies, State Patrol, Police Officers, Firemen and Dispatchers in the form of debriefings. Chaplain Gregg’s primary calling is to help people. Chaplain Gregg raises 2/3 of his support as a 501(c)3.
