History of the Chaplain Program
On October 1, 2003, the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office saw the need for a Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Program in Morrison County. Chaplain Gregg Valentine was hired with the news that he would have to raise his own support. Chaplain Valentine responds to all critical incidents as part of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). Chaplain Valentine’s duties include death notifications, crisis counseling, and trained negotiations for suicidal and barricaded suspects, including help for EMS, Deputies, State Patrol, Police Officers, Firemen and Dispatchers in the form of debriefings. Chaplain Gregg’s primary calling is to help people. Chaplain Gregg raises 2/3 of his support as a 501(c)3.
About the Chaplain
Chaplain Gregg has been a pastor since 1984. He served as Senior Pastor for 13 years in Verndale, MN and 5 ½ years at Little Falls Alliance Church. Gregg started a satellite Counseling Ministry there with the help of a licensed psychologist to help people in crisis in and out of the church. Gregg has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Leadership Development from Moody Bible Graduate School in Chicago, IL. Gregg and his wife Nancy have two adult children, Jeremy (Sarah) of Dayton, OH, and Jennifer (Brent) of Houston, TX. Gregg and Nancy both enjoy speaking in area churches and at other community events when requested.
